My Thoughts This 2-discs album is MADE-OF-GOLD! It consists 31 golden Chinese New Year Songs, by China Legendary Song Birds from the 40s - 70s. My mother used to play most of these tracks, when I was a kid on cassette. Finally EMI reproduced them again in CD.
So emo, when I saw this at the local CD store!

WARNING! SPOILER AHEAD!!! My thoughts 我的感言: • Very nice cinematography; • excellent mood - cool colour scheme, black vs white, dark vs bright; • The War scenes are magnificent (i.e. hollywood standard); • the setup and props are nicely done; • I didn't really like the editing of the story, the flow isn't smooth. I noticed most of the Chinese Films' have editing flaws; • Story wise not bad. This is actually a remake of a 1973 movie - 《刺馬》, based on a historical event Taiping Rebellion (see below, find out more), that illustrated the corrupted government during the late Qing Dynasty, and the differences of soldiesr & politicians, leaders & followers, heroes & crooks; • Acting wise, nothing great for Andy Lau (just like his performance in his other movie), however Jet Li & Takeshi have great improvement in their acting skills.
Because it managed to take me to a tour to "how Taiping Rebellion" were like. I've studied that in history class back in school before. If Taiping Rebellion won, it'll certainly change the history event of China, as well as the world.

besides that, the CG for those "dark seeker" (mutated human) quite badly done for my taste. I was told the 1971's verion - The Omega Man has a better make up using live actors.
Will Smith did a good job soloing the movie (he's the last human in the world, remember? ^_^"). A few emotional scenes caught me, like the part Sam died, and another part when he was preaching on Bob Marley's legacy.
however, I did enjoy the movie. It worthed 4/5 stars for me.

Facts I managed to get a free pass to "premier screening" tonight from a friend - .
Because it's a "premier screening" 2 days before the actual release, the lucky patrons were required to go through strict security check by the organisers and movie distributor.
Rules printed on sight are: 01) No electronic devices are allow to bring into to the screening hall, i.e. mobile phones (with or without camera features), laptops, music portalbe players, handheld gaming devices, etc...); 02) during the screening, there will be security personnels patroling & monitoring the movie patrons during the show for any illegal recording; 03)...; 04)...;
You were also constantly reminded on Rule #01 from a PA system, that you also need to deposit all your electronic gadgets at the security booth. They'll put your items in a plastic bag, stapled, and you'll be given a number tag to the bag. And you'll suppose to claim it after the screening with the number.
There were 2-tier security check upon entering the screening hall: 1st tier - 1 guy will scan your body with a portable scanner; 2nd tier - upon clearence from 1st tier, they'll check your bags/pouch/shopping bags, etc...
After the show finish, there's already a booth with multiple lanes, right outside the exit. Lanes were divided according to number range, e.g. lane 1 - 0001 - 500, lane 2 - 501 -1000, etc... to speed up the process and keeping the crowd in order.
It's a well organised security protocol, not forget to mention the security personnels were well-trained and polite.

My Thoughts This is the 8th Jay Chou album. Generally, you'll still find his signature Chinese R&B+Rap Style, a little bit of Rock, a few tracks' were actually melodies taken from the soundtrack - Secret, which are nice melodies, and introducing a new style from him - Western Country Style (which turn off lotsa fans). LOL~
It's the first track actually - 牛仔很忙 Cowboy On The Run(Niu Zai Hen Mang), that created a mixed reviews & feelings from both the fans and non-fans. Most of them find it hard to accept such experimental style from Jay Chou.
Personally I find the track, funny+cute+fun! In fact, that's one of the reason that got me into getting this album... for my girlfriend - Wildchild (be warn!!! She's big fan of Jay Chou... watch your comments/remarks about Jay Chou, when she's around).

Facts I used to dislike Jay Chou's works, I have no idea what he's singing is all about (even though I find his lyrics are interesting), especially his acting. However, I changed my view after, experiencing his work from his 7th album - Still Fantasy 依然范特西.
I was impressed with the particular track 千里之外 Faraway (Qiān Lǐ Zhī Wài), duet with veteran Fei Yu-Ching. It was an unique collaborations, between old school way of singing+modern Chinese R&B. Not to mention, great music arrangement, and excellent film+cinematography on the MVs.
Then came the movie - Secret, a movie I was so reluctant to watch, due to his acting in previous movies, but was dragged by the number one fan, and so I went.
And again, he stunned+impressed me with more talents, and from then, I decided to become a Jay Chou Fan.

My Thoughts I was so disappointed with the 2nd and 3rd albums, til I was so sceptical to get this. I was waiting for someone that share the similar taste with me to try out first (and I'm glad it was you McB!!! LOL~).
McB managed to pursade me that is a nice album to get. He even took the initiative taking me to Neway and sing to me. Thank goodness, I wasn't paying attention to him, else he would have kill another F.I.R. album for me (LOL~). With the nice MV+Music+Song+Lyrics, I'm convinced to get it the following day.
And I personally like the two English tracks, which are jazzy with a little of blue tunes. I strongly believe they can go to that direction, as Fay really got nice voice for jazz (personal preferences).

Her album is made for win!!! LOL~ seriously! I believe Tsai Chin has the most album being mastered/digitally re-mastered into DSD format.
Normally, I listened to her songs with Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones in the middle of the night, where no other noise polutions. You'll need to enjoy this in a Hi-Fi sound proof audio room, with super Hi-Fi system, to get the best out of it. Her voice is really God Made.

My thoughts 我的感言: This film was directed by 3 of the best+legendary Film Makers in HK, and written by some of the HK ace movie writers - 半閒、耿啓文、鍾曉陽、游乃海、歐健兒、葉天成. The story is about the ugly side of modern society, money talks! It has a hillariouus+dark and unexpected story development. I enjoyed it. One of my favourite HK Dark Comedy!

My thoughts 我的感言: War Movies half a century ago, are always about Nazi Troops, Japanese Army, or Viet Cong as the bad guys, where as US Army are the good guys (at least that's what Hollywood wanted us to believe).
Well... politically, there might be some truth in it. However, the fact is, when it comes to War, regardless of which sides, they are equally ugly, and brutal. Because they are only soldiers that carrying duties/orders, to excecute monstrous acts.
You'll find the War Movies today, are different from then. A Good War Film in our time, will tell stories from a soldier's perspective. There are more senses and human elements touched. How would a soldier behave/feel, when his/her companion is killed... pointing out the fact that WAR IS UGLY. War shouldn't happen at all. It's all politicians/warlords game.
And these are the movies/stories, Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood wanted to tell.

My Thoughts I've been looking for this soundtrack, like more than a decade by now. I saw the LP version once, while I was in UK back in 1990. However, I didn't have a turntable back then, so didn't get it. And you can't get the CD version from any of the local stores. With the released of Transformers: The Movie (20th Anniversary Edition) DVD, this soundtrack becomes available again. I got this from Amazon.com.
It's so great to finally got something you wanted it so much when you were a kid. Not to mention, I can tell you the movie scenes from each tracks.

Simon Yam and Tony Leung Ka Fai square off in the cat-and-mouse police thriller Eye in the Sky, produced by Johnnie To's Milkyway Image Films. Yam is Mike, head of the SU (Surveillance Unit), a dedicated unit of cops whose job is to follow, listen, and learn - but they must never engage their quarry. They've just taken on a new member, rookie cop Bo (former Miss Hong Kong Kate Tsui), and she receives a trial by fire when charismatic criminal Shan (Tony Leung Ka Fai) stages a daring daylight robbery. The SU immediately begins searching for Shan, using every resource at their disposal, from camera surveillance to smart card tracking to plain, old-fashioned legwork. Director Yau Nai Hoi is no stranger to Milkyway Image, having worked on the scripts for many of the company's acclaimed hits, including Election, PTU, Running on Karma, and Needing You. Yau does mentor/producer Johnnie To proud with Eye in the Sky, giving the film a stylish feel as well as an ironic sense of humor that fans of Johnnie To should find familiar. What's interesting about Eye in the Sky is how it takes a subject that doesn't seem exciting - surveillance - and brings it to life through breathless pacing and a fine attention to detail. My thoughts 我的感言: Excellent story, with detailed & very real descriptions on how a surveillance team works. This is not your usual Hong Kong police thriller， Director Yau Nai Hoi had done an excellent work, even this is his first directed film.
If you enjoyed Johnnie To's Election, PTU, I'm sure you'll find Eye in the Sky nice too, 'cos they are written by Yau Nai Hoi.
Not to mention, this DVD comes with lots of behind the scence Extra Features. It's a good buy!

One day, Lun asks Yu to meet him at the music room. But they did not meet and Yu never show up again. It seems that Yu has mysteriously disappeared. Later, Lun sees Yu in an old photograph and what surprises him is that Yu is standing next to his father, Chiu (Anthony Wong) in the photo!
The secrets behind Yu and the mysterious melody are going to be unleashed...
My thoughts 我的感言: Big applause to Jay Chou and team! It turns out, surprisingly an excellent movie! The lighting, art directions, dialouge, story details, casting, cinematography and the soundtrack are perfectly crafted!
The story started of as a high school love story of a boy and a girl, it was really sweet. Then there's a sudden unexpected dark twist in the story, that leads to an interesting ending.
There were several memorable scenes, which showed off Jay's talent. One of the most impressive, was the "piano battle" scene, where Jay and a senior (acted by his buddy friend - 宇豪 （南拳媽媽團員）) were challening each other, playing on one of Chopin's music piece. That scene had intense fingers tapping on the keyboards, felt hammers hammering the strings... a total extreme climax scene.

Personally, I think Jay Chou didn't look too well in Curse of the Golden Flower and Initial D. However, I have a different thoughts when I saw his MV from his 7th album - Still Fantasy 依然范特西, which he directed and acted in it. It was SUPERB!!! The details were so defined and expectations were high from him.
Slowly, he "reviewed" his talent through time. KEEP UP, "HOO~HOO~HAH~HEE!!!"

My Thoughts The story doesn't really link back to the first title, in terms of story development, perhaps a few old main characters that from the previous title. Generally I would say, it's still ok, for you to start/play with GS / PW 2.
Good stories, same old good illustrations.
Difinitely, another "MOST STUCKED" DS Game for you.

My thoughts 我的感言: Even though this might be just how the film makers, visualised/pictured how the Mayan Civilisation was 1,000 years ago. Because no one actually lived to see/tell how it was like.
However, I must say, the team did a brilliant job! You can see they did their homework, major reseach were involved. The team managed to illustrate the lives, cultures, costumes, architectures, language (even I don't know any Mayan language), etc, in details, reflecting how it was like back in those days.
The movie is so realistic, adrenaline pumping to the max, beautiful, eye-opening and brutal.
