In 2006, renowned actor/director Clint Eastwood presented two critically acclaimed WWII companion films about the Battle of Iwo Jima, approaching the same battlefield from two different perspectives. On the Japanese side, Letters from Iwo Jima recalls the final days of the Japanese soldiers stationed at Iwo Jima through the letters they left behind. On the American side, Flags of Our Fathers follows the soldiers who raised the American flag on Mount Suribachi in the iconic picture that came to symbolize Iwo Jima in the United States. Both films carry strong, starkly human messages about the devastation of war and the heroes that come of them.

Flags of Our Fathers, starring Jesse Bradford, Ryan Phillippe, and Rene Gagnon, jumps back and forth between the battlefield and the soldiers' no less taxing post-war experience when they are welcomed home as heroes, and then reluctantly paraded around the country on a government public relations campaign. My thoughts 我的感言:
War Movies half a century ago, are always about Nazi Troops, Japanese Army, or Viet Cong as the bad guys, where as US Army are the good guys (at least that's what Hollywood wanted us to believe).

Well... politically, there might be some truth in it. However, the fact is, when it comes to War, regardless of which sides, they are equally ugly, and brutal. Because they are only soldiers that carrying duties/orders, to excecute monstrous acts.

You'll find the War Movies today, are different from then. A Good War Film in our time, will tell stories from a soldier's perspective. There are more senses and human elements touched. How would a soldier behave/feel, when his/her companion is killed... pointing out the fact that WAR IS UGLY. War shouldn't happen at all. It's all politicians/warlords game.

And these are the movies/stories, Steven Spielberg and Clint Eastwood wanted to tell.

My thoughts 我的感言:
Excellent story, with detailed & very real descriptions on how a surveillance team works. This is not your usual Hong Kong police thriller， Director Yau Nai Hoi had done an excellent work, even this is his first directed film.

If you enjoyed Johnnie To's Election, PTU, I'm sure you'll find Eye in the Sky nice too, 'cos they are written by Yau Nai Hoi.

Not to mention, this DVD comes with lots of behind the scence Extra Features. It's a good buy!

My thoughts 我的感言:
Even though this might be just how the film makers, visualised/pictured how the Mayan Civilisation was 1,000 years ago. Because no one actually lived to see/tell how it was like.

However, I must say, the team did a brilliant job! You can see they did their homework, major reseach were involved. The team managed to illustrate the lives, cultures, costumes, architectures, language (even I don't know any Mayan language), etc, in details, reflecting how it was like back in those days.

The movie is so realistic, adrenaline pumping to the max, beautiful, eye-opening and brutal.

But more ghosts will be arriving soon, so Leon must train the security staff in his wacked-out spectre-battling ways - which includes tools like a slingshot, candies, plastic wrap, and a ghost-sensing plant. His plans work, putting the ghosts on the ropes, but once Leon himself is possessed by a particularly malicious ghost, will anybody be able to stop him?

Co-starring Karen Mok, Out of the Dark has earned a reputation as Stephen Chow's darkest film, adding brutal violence, copious blood, and scads of black humor to the nonsense jokes, movie parodies, and toilet humor that fans of his early work expect. Aside from the obvious nod towards Luc Besson's Leon (a.k.a. I've watched this like over 10 times.

For me, this is one of the best of Stephen Chow movie. The jokes, tricks & ideas were so original & creative. This movie was not known to many, especially the Malaysian audience, because it was never screened at the local cinemas, because it was a flop in Hong Kong and the rest of the Asia.

Reason being, there was a sudden change of style in Stephen Chow's film, and the audiences were not prepared for such change, and could not accept/adapt to his new style of jokes/creativity. However, this didn't stop him from experimenting/exploring. He carried on with such style, insisting & believing in delivering the best for his audiences.

His hard work had made his every single movie a blockbuster mega hit, not to mention, won several awards over the years. And he was featured on the cover of Time Magazine: Special Issue 2003 Asian Heroes.

This movie had brought me and my friends, many laughter. You'll find lots of memorable scenes, catchy soundtracks, and classic dialogue lines, that we still joke about it after so many years. LOL~

If you are a Stephen Chow's fan, this is a must-watch movie. It's simply THE BEST!!!

My thoughts 我的感言:
The movie was never screened in Malaysia's cinemas, therefore I didn't get to watch it. Anyway, since it's a Studio Ghibli production, I'm sure it won't be that bad.

So far, I've enjoyed every single one of Studio Ghibli's works. They are not just another high budget anime with stunning visual effects or graphics... but stories with philosophy that makes you think about LIFE.

Each of their works, carries a message behind, emphasizing the concept of love, respect, courage, good against evil, peace, selflessness, environmental concern... and I value & respect all that.

I've actually ordered this version.

这几乎是一部描述了每个好演员，奋斗一生，终获承认，而中间经过了多少曲折和坚持，又何足为外人道的「毕生電影人事迹」。劉青雲就是这个不幸的好例子，在娛樂圈闯多年，超级男星质素，但从未获得影帝之奉，直到现在，还他一个公道。

Legend of the Condor Heores 射鵰英雄傳

YEAH!!! So happy!

I bought this famous TVB's 1983 TV Drama Series DVD Boxset - Legend of the Condor Heores 射鵰英雄傳. Based on the world #1 wuxia novel by Master - Jin Yong 金庸

My Thoughts
Many wonder why I bought it, as many think "it's so old". Well, to me, old or new, means nothing... but good or bad does!

This is one of the best - Legend of the Condor Heores 射鵰英雄傳, on screen ever. There were many remakes over the years, however, none beat this 1983 version. The cast were just perfect! Especially the two main characters - Guo Jing & Huang Rong, many had played these 2 characters, most notable are Felix Wong Yat Wah 黃日華 & Barbara Yung Mei Ling 翁美玲. They are simply the best Guo Jing & Huang Rong ever.

They managed to bring out the characters created by Jin Yong 金庸.
